Certificate of Attainment in Professional Supervision.
Description:
OPD Points: 10
The aim of this course is to provide a framework for conducting and evaluating effective clinical supervision using a competency-based framework incorporating reflective practice. Participants will develop the necessary skills for setting up a rewarding clinical supervision relationship to enhance supervisee learning and skill development, considering the systemic issues of their workplace/team and client group.
Supervision is identified as an integral part of professional development as it provides a forum for staff development, quality management and self-care. There is growing evidence in contemporary literature to suggest that supervisors must possess a range of skills, knowledge and experience in their clinical speciality in addition to being able to develop and enhance the same skills in those that they supervise. There is strong emphasis placed on the importance of the supervisor having a positive attitude towards clinical supervision and a belief in the capacity of the supervisee to benefit from the relationship both professionally and personally. This course covers information on how to establish, maintain and evaluate clinical supervision sessions, establish learning goals for supervisees that work towards the development of supervisee clinical skills, knowledge and confidence.
