Description:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach to treating various mental health conditions.  Participants will be introduced to cognitive behavioural techniques by experienced trainers who are also qualified clinicians.  Teaching approaches will include lectures, modelling and a strong emphasis on skills practice in small groups with supervision.  Participants are provided feedback from their supervisors making the training meaningful and leaving the participant confident in their learning of the application of CBT.  This is a course suitable for the beginner and for those wishing to refresh their skills. A degree in a health, helping or teaching profession is required. (e.g. Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, SW, OT, counselling, Educators, Physicians, Speech therapists).

Key Learning Objectives / Outcomes:

In this training workshop, Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, (CBT), participants will develop a thorough theoretical understanding of cognitive behaviour therapy and the skills specific to this mode of therapy.  Areas covered include an introduction to CBT, CBT with Depression, CBT with Anxiety and CBT with Anger.   Provided that all requirements are met, the Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy will be awarded at the conclusion of the course.  This workshop in addition with further reading, a test and a fee of $50 (USD) enables participants to qualify for Level 1 certificate in REBT from the International Association of REBT. This workshop is the pre-requisite for the Advanced Certificate in CBT.
