Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Anger
Description:
OPD Points: 5
Across different treatment settings practitioners routinely see clients whose anger reactions contribute to significant loss and suffering. While anger is a frequent and universal human emotion, it has received surprisingly little attention as a clinical problem. When addressing anger, practitioners commonly engage in unproductive conversations (e.g., clients venting about unfair actions of others) and struggle to identify clear treatment targets. In this session, participants will practice assessing the key features of client anger reactions by applying a 6-stage Anger Episode Model Interview to understand how anger is experienced and expressed in the client’s real-life interactions. The analysis of anger episodes forms the groundwork for effective case formulation and collaboratively identifying relevant treatment goals. A flexible menu of well-established cognitive and behavioural interventions for remediating anger difficulties will be reviewed.Provided that all requirements are met, including 100% attendance and successful completion of an online assessment the Certificate of Attendance for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Anger will be awarded at the conclusion of the course.  The assessment of the content of the course must be undertaken to enable the awarding of OPD points.
