Entry Requirements You hold a Bachelor in Counselling or equivalent or Diploma of Counselling with min/ 3 years current and relevant vocational experience and have a level of language proficiency that demonstrates potential to undertake this AQF level 8 training program. Guided Learning Enjoy a well supported online community with * Live online weekly lectures with your trainer, not pre-recorded materials * Ongoing clinical group supervision and case study conceptualisations * Small class size so you can join in the conversation and participate * Meet and interact with your fellow villagers on-campus with our 5 day intensives Online Learning – written learning and assessments modules are interactive; including videos, readings and activities supported by your user friendly Learner Management System (LMS). Library that includes Research, Readings, Assessment Documents, Supporting Documents and more * On-campus is a 5 Day Intensive training – where students gain skills and knowledge in applications in the diverse ways of using the sand (see calendar for dates in your state) including: Transpersonal Psychotherapy – any underlying issues you have not resolved may come up in training at this advanced level Symbol Work self-trays and working in pairs Role Plays to integrate theory to practise Supervision – 20 hours individual/group Case Conceptualisations – Learn to apply the ST_CAMD Clinical Assessment Mapping Document/Theoretical Framework/Case notes and how to integrate pre and post testing for best practice Tutorials – weekly 1 hour online (min. 75% attendance per unit) One on one with your trainer to support your needs Industry Experience – 2 x 60 hours client contact hours (Log Book) in a workplace setting (If you are in private practice this can be in your current workplace)

Fiona is the lead trainer and CEO at Opengate Institute delivering a high level of sand therapy training. Fiona began her career in mental health as a registered Counsellor after completing her Bachelor degree of Social Science. Fiona trained as a Sandplay therapist, her trainers included many highly esteemed international and local Sandplay trainers.

Fiona has lived in Europe for many years where she visited sacred sites, explored the symbols and their meaning from many different regions and understood that there is a language of than our verbal communication using words.

Fiona developed the Graduate Diploma in Sandtray Therapy as an accredited course in the hope the counselling and psychotherapy industry would integrate this depth psychotherapy into their skills and knowledge as an extra framework.

Fiona also designs and develops OPD for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) and mental health & Wellbeing sector.
