Its Time to Ask: Identifying and responding to adult sexual violence & child sexual abuse in Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) presentations

WHO : This course is suitable for front line responders, emergency services (police, child protection and hospital staff etc), family violence workers as well as social workers, support workers, case workers and telehealth services working with clients in a range of human service delivery sectors.

Key Learning Objectives / Outcomes:

WORKSHOP AIMS: 
Explore gaps in knowledge about adult (SA) and child sexual assault (CSA) in the context of family and domestic violence

Assist in increasing practitioner confidence in screening and identification practices

Screening based skill building – asking the right questions by using questions that are evidence-based, and culturally appropriate in a safe and confidential manner

Skill professionals in identifying and sensitively responding to presentations of sexual violence and child sexual abuse.

OUR PRESENTER: Tori Cooke brings two decades of practice as a social worker as well as extensive training experience.  She is a well-respected practitioner and leader who is passionate about teaching practical skills that support workforce capacity and builds health and wellness for those working in human service delivery. 

Presenter Qualifications:

Bachelor of Social Work.

Tori Cooke is an experienced family violence consultant, clinical supervisor, and educator with expertise in designing and implementing effective interventions. With a background in social work, she brings extensive experience in counselling women affected by family violence and engaging directly with men perpetrating violence. Tori has successfully developed and implemented men’s behavioral change programs across multiple Australian states. She is renowned for her work in developing women’s healing programs and designing comprehensive responses for men’s behavioral change programs across Western Australia, South Australia, and Victoria.

Over the past five years, Tori has been instrumental in various initiatives addressing men’s family violence within Victoria, notably serving as the practice specialist at Relationships Australia Victoria and Head of Workforce Development at No to Violence. Now based in Perth, she continues to advance best practices and support practitioner well-being through Pandora Enterprise Projects.

Tori’s expertise extends to training and education, where she has contributed as a subject matter expert in innovative induction training for Victorian Orange Door Hubs and the design of the MARAM Framework training. Currently, she holds teaching positions at South Metro TAFE and the University of Western Australia, while also providing external supervision and mentoring to frontline practitioners.
