Identify and explain the behavioural and physiological nature of anxiety, supporting more accurate client assessment and triage.
Apply in-the-moment strategies to assist clients in managing acute anxiety and emotional dysregulation.
Teach emotional regulation techniques such as grounding, breathwork, and creating internal “emotional space” to support client safety and stability.
Use positive self-talk and cognitive strategies to help clients reframe distressing thoughts and strengthen internal support.
Support clients in developing mindful resilience by introducing simple, repeatable techniques to remain calm and present during high-stress moments.
Facilitate long-term recovery through tools that foster emotional ownership, cognitive flexibility, and acceptance-based strategies.
Introduce body-based interventions such as body scanning and emotional mapping to reconnect clients with their physical and emotional experiences.
Guide clients in cultivating meaningful relationships, recognising connection as a protective factor in long-term anxiety recovery.
Integrate psychoeducation and emotional literacy into counselling sessions, helping clients feel more empowered and informed about their anxiety.
