Symposium Theme: Identity
Identity sits underneath almost every presenting issue clients bring into the counselling room, and it directly shapes formulation, rapport, treatment planning, and outcomes.
The ACA 2026 Identity Symposium will explore how identity is shaped, disrupted, and reconstructed across a range of contemporary practice contexts. The program sessions will examine identity through topics that often involve profound shifts in self-concept, belonging, meaning, and agency, and require counsellors to work with care, cultural awareness, and clinical sensitivity.
Designed as a professional development event for registered counsellors and psychotherapists, the event provides evidence-informed insights and practical reflections. It's opportunity to engage with current research, emerging trends, and lived-experience-informed perspectives, supporting you to strengthen ethical practice and enhance therapeutic outcomes.
