Recommend
22 July 2026
Counselling and support services are available in a range of formats. If you’re feeling the desire to reach out for help, but seeing someone in person feels uncomfortable, or you’re not sure what level of support you need, there are many digital tools at your disposal.
-----------------------
Medicare has just launched a new, free digital service called
Medicare Mental Health Check In
, available to those experiencing mild mental health challenges like stress, anxiety, and low mood. It is designed to provide early intervention support, offering evidence-based and confidential guidance, helping to build practical skills, confidence and improve mental health through Low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LiCBT).
----------------
ACA registered counsellors are currently delivering support through the Medicare Mental Health Check In, so you can rest assured your support is delivered by qualified professionals.
----------------
------------------------------
Who is this service for?
You may not be sure whether this tool is right for you, but the qualified practitioners are here for just that, to help you understand where to start, and how to manage your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
----------------
Some of the main areas it can help in are:
Facing fears
Lifting mood
Managing worries
Finding solutions to problems
Sleeping well
Staying well
Balanced thinking.
-----------------------
You can work through these tools independently, and if you find you need support, you can choose to be guided by a qualified mental health practitioner via telehealth. Many of ACA’s Counsellors are among these practitioners, aiding to deliver the Check In’s services to the highest standard
.
-----------------------
The service is free service for people aged 16 and over living in Australia, with no GP referral or diagnosis needed. You do not need to be an Australian citizen to access the service.
-----------------------
The service is most appropriate for mild or early-stage mental health challenges. It may suit people who are struggling in their day-to-day lives and would benefit from the early stages of support.
-----------------------
-----------------------
