I am a Level 2 Counsellor and Child Wellbeing Mentor, specialising in contextualisation of lived experience, processing of role transitions and reframing adversity using Existential and Humanist frameworks that are culturally sensitive, trauma-informed and intersectional.My preferred methodologies are CBT, DBT, Family Systems, Somatic Awareness, ACT, EFT, Psychoeducation and SFBT.I am currently employed by Connected Education Australia – Raising Connected Kids, a wellbeing education service for children and young people aged 5yrs – teens. My role is to mentor, educate and support children, young people and their families to promote social and emotional health, and to create interdependent, socially conscious and connected communities.I am also available to provide online Counselling services through my private practice DHM Counselling.I completed a Graduate Certificate and Masters in Counselling at Edith Cowan University in 2023. My primary skills are person-centred client support, empathic connection, collaborative treatment planning and goal setting.I completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Sydney in 1995, majoring in Women's Studies, Sociology and Social Anthropology.I have work experience in crisis management and support in a residential setting for families experiencing domestic and family violence. I have also provided support and case management of workplace injury compensation, working with clients who have acquired dust related exposure and illness, some of whom were palliative. I have also provided medical administration support to vascular surgeons, a behavioural paediatrician and Allied health services in a community primary healthcare setting.My intention as a Counsellor is to provide holistic, empathic and strength-based support through a collaborative therapeutic alliance, that enables client focused solutions, as well as desired behavioural, perspective and emotional transformation.
