I am a therapist and sociologist with 20 years of experience
in trauma-informed and evidence-based practice. In particular, I bring expertise
in childhood abuse and neglect, complex trauma, mental health, domestic and
family violence, women's health, self-change, trauma-informed and
evidence-informed practice. I have experience working across a range of
sectors, including private practice, public health, mental health, children and
youth services, domestic and family violence, sexual violence, and maternity
care.

My approach is compassionate and non-judgemental, and I am
committed to creating a safe space where clients can process and make sense of
complex and overwhelming experiences. I am trauma-informed,
client-centred, culturally safe, supportive and responsive. My style is
relational, warm and curious. 

I draw on a range of modalities or therapeutic approaches,
including somatic, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour
therapy, mindfulness, family systems, emotion focussed, narrative therapy and
more.

My practice is informed by my experiences as a clinician/therapist,
my lived experience of trauma, my work as a leader and my experiences as an
academic/researcher.

I have authored over 100 peer reviewed publications in psychology,
counselling, mental health care and psychiatry. My PhD investigated the life
journey of people who joined coercive groups such as cults, and the impact of
joining and leaving such groups on identity, mental health and social
connectedness. I am an Adjunct Associate Professor with the Faculty of Health
at the University of Technology Sydney.
