I am Dr. Emma Mak. I am a Registered Counsellor, Music Therapist, and Special Education Teacher. I hold a Master of Counselling, Master of Music Therapy, Doctor of Worship Studies, and a Postgraduate qualification in Special Education. I have a deep passion for supporting individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
I firmly believe that every person is uniquely made and irreplaceable. No one else can take your place in this world. When you face stress, sickness, relational struggles, depression, anxiety, mental health challenges, or difficulties adapting to life changes, I want to walk alongside you so that these obstacles do not define you. Together, we will work toward removing these barriers so that you can embrace life fully and live out your most fruitful and authentic self.
My Approach
I take a strength-based approach, supporting you in uncovering your resilience while also exploring deeper emotions and experiences when you feel ready. My practice integrates:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) – Identifying patterns of thinking and behavior to create positive change.
- Psychodynamic Therapy – Exploring unconscious patterns and past experiences to deepen self-awareness.
- Music Psychotherapy & Creative Techniques – Using music and creative expression as a therapeutic tool.
With extensive experience in counselling, music psychotherapy, music therapy, and pastoral care, I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including neurodivergent individuals and those from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.
Who I Work With
I provide individual counselling and therapy for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, tailoring my approach to your unique life experiences and cultural background.
I offer online sessions to make therapy as accessible as possible. Additionally, I provide face-to-face music therapy and music psychotherapy sessions in the Canning Vale, Thornlie, Parkwood, Riverton, and Willetton areas.
If you’re unsure where to begin, I invite you to book an initial session so we can discuss your needs and how we can work together.
Your story matters. Your journey is important. Let’s take the next step together.
