The course provides an intensive introduction to the fundamental philosophical concepts that inform the practice of existential counselling and psychotherapy. It includes an overview of the major philosophers and a critique of their similarities and differences. If you are a practising psychotherapist, counsellor, psychologist, coach or social worker who would like to incorporate existential themes and concepts into your practice, this course is for you. Course is 3 days (spread over 6 mornings) to minimise fatigue and maximise learning. It runs on Thursday and Friday mornings from 19 & 20 and 26 & 27 June to 3 & 4 July.

Key Learning Objectives / Outcomes:

You will walk away with a foundational understanding of key existential themes and concepts such as: 

  • philosophical foundations
  • time and beginnings
  • the existential ‘givens’
  • worldview and sedimented beliefs
  • phenomenological understanding of relationship

and how these can be applied in practice

Alison is a practising psychotherapist, coach and supervisor. She is also an educator with a passion for imparting how existential themes can be integrated into every therapeutic approach.

Adam is a clinical psychotherapist, supervisor, educator and trainer with over 30 years experience and a continuing interest in the human capacity for opening up to the possibilities in life.
