Joanna Wood – Counsellor & Group Facilitator
I am a counsellor, coach, and group facilitator supporting women navigating change — including health, work, relationships, and identity — with compassion, clarity, and practical tools. My approach blends evidence-informed counselling with lived experience, offered in a calm, grounded, and respectful way.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over 20 years in senior leadership roles with the Australian Government, including as an Education Counsellor in Vietnam, Thailand, and India. This work gave me deep insight into responsibility, transition, and the ways people can lose themselves while caring for others. My own midlife experiences — raising a family, rebuilding after a long relationship, and transforming my health — now strongly inform my counselling practice.
Through Joanna Wood Wellness Counselling & Coaching – Intentional Living, I support women to rediscover steadiness, self-trust, and a clearer sense of direction. Our work begins with what matters most to you — your values — and builds from there using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and person-centred approaches.
Clients often come to counselling during seasons of transition, including:
-
Navigating new or changing relationships
-
Adjusting to health or weight changes, including GLP-1 journeys
-
Re-entering the workforce or redefining purpose after parenting or career burnout
-
Seeking greater calm, confidence, or direction in midlife
Sessions combine reflective conversation, mindfulness, and small, achievable steps toward meaningful change. I also offer short online group programs, including Living with Intention, Living Well Together (GLP-1), and Dating with Intention, providing supportive spaces for connection and growth.
I work primarily online with clients across Australia and internationally, and offer in-person sessions on the Mornington Peninsula and in Melbourne by appointment. Sessions are available via secure Zoom and are suitable for individual counselling, coaching, or group participation.
