Salihan Laugesen is a registered counsellor currently completing a Master of Counselling at the University of Canberra. She works with adults and young people aged 16 and over, offering individual counselling in-person at Murrumbateman Specialist Centre (NSW) and via telehealth.
Salihan brings a warm, collaborative presence to her work. She has a deep appreciation for the different ways people experience the world — and a commitment to making counselling feel safe, affirming, and inclusive. Her counselling style is person-centred and integrative, blending evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness with somatic and creative practices, depending on each client’s needs.
She has supported clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence, and life transitions. During her placement at a rural psychiatric clinic, Salihan worked alongside psychiatrists and registrars to support clients with complex mental health presentations.
Salihan speaks both English and Malay. She has a strong understanding of cultural and sensory needs and has created a therapy space that is welcoming and neurodivergent-friendly. Her practice is grounded in respect, curiosity, and the belief that healing doesn’t always begin with words — sometimes it starts with being truly heard.
